Foot and Ankle Pain

If you’re suffering from aches and pains in your foot or ankle, we’d like to put an end to it. For good.

Our feet bear a lot of weight, and for those of us who are more active or work standing on our feet for most of the day, foot pain may seem like a natural part of life. If that’s your thought process, we’re here to disagree with you.

Did you know that our feet hold 25% of the bones in our body? That’s a pretty significant number for such a small area. As you may have guessed, that complexity combined with vast use increases the risk of injury. A well-functioning and supporting foot are essential to correct movement patterns and balance.

Chiropractic care is a natural and effective way to ensure the feet and ankles are working properly. Our Elkhorn chiropractic clinic finds solutions that rid you of discomfort at the source, rebuilding strength and restoring soft tissue and joint function, so your pain diminishes.

Our team offers various chiropractic techniques that are proven to promote healthy soft tissues, bones, joints, and nerves. Your foot and ankle injuries deserve your attention; let us help you get back your range of motion, restore flexibility, and promote safe mobility so you can live the life you were meant to; active and free from pain.

In many cases, pain starts small and builds over time- this is especially true for foot pain. When we feel discomfort, our bodies are communicating with us, telling us that something isn’t functioning correctly.

The body can sometimes remedy itself independently, but not always. Even with seemingly innocuous discomfort, it’s important to stay conscientious to avoid further or more significant problems.

Some of the patients we work with have noticed increased aching in the foot or ankle, others have radiating or spreading pain, and some find it getting harder and harder to rotate the ankle.

We provide safe chiropractic treatments for several kinds of pain at every level, including:

  • Discomfort in or around the ankle

  • Throbbing or dull pain in the heel or arch of the foot

  • Sharp, stabbing, or sudden pain in the foot or ankle

  • Tightness in the calves or shins

  • Spreading pain that starts at the foot or ankle and moves into the toes or up the leg

  • Foot swelling

  • Difficulty moving the toes

  • Discomfort when rotating the ankle

  • Numbness in the foot, ankle, or toes

  • And more

Let our team help get the soft tissue and bones of the feet and ankle to work together as they are meant to. Our non-invasive methods are designed to keep your body safe, rid it of pain, and improve function. The healing process should not offer additional trauma to your body; our approach is always designed to benefit you and your individual needs.

Our care ensures you get comprehensive, whole-body focus. We know how the body should work and how connected and involved each component is with other components, and we make educated, efficient-based decisions regarding your treatment plan.

It’s important to seek help when your body is injured. Not doing so can put other parts of your life at risk:

  • Inability to work safely or comfortably, leading to missed work

  • Putting other areas of the body in jeopardy

  • Worsening pain

  • Failure to perform at work or play

  • Inability to concentrate

  • Inability to accomplish daily tasks or regular routine

  • Missing out on social events

  • Missing out on exercise or activity

At Midwest Movement, we don’t want that to happen. Let’s get in front of your pain now, give you the skills to keep your body safe, and get you living your life again.

Common reasons for foot and ankle discomfort and injury

Because the majority of us rely on our feet and ankles several times a day– even those of us who lead inactive lifestyles– determining why you have the pain will help us know how to stop it and help us implement the most responsible and effective chiropractic strategies based on your pain points.

Foot and ankle pain can stem from a number of factors; some include:

  • Trauma or serious accident

  • Improper landing from a fall or jump

  • Established poor movement patterns

  • Improper treatment of a previous injury or accident

  • Muscle overuse or fatigue

  • Auto accident or workplace injury

  • Sports-related or athletic injury

  • Running consistently or incorrectly

  • Wearing poorly designed shoes or high heels often

  • And more

Pain intensity often varies. If you work on your feet all day, you may find yourself in severe discomfort after a few hours. You may only have foot pain after wearing a specific pair of shoes. Or maybe when you run, your ankle starts to throb. Whatever the case may be, the damage may lead to various injuries.

Plantar fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is a common injury we see in active patients. Inflammation appears in the plantar fascia, the tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes, and pain typically occurs in the heel or arch of the foot. The pain generally worsens over time if not correctly taken care of.

Achilles tendonitis

The Achilles tendon attaches the calf muscle to the heel bone and can be damaged when stretched too far or loaded inappropriately. This injury often shows up in runners and weekend warriors. Its symptoms include pain in the heel and tenderness in the heel, arch of the foot, and ankle.

Ankle sprains

When the ankle’s ligaments and other soft tissues are stretched too far, often due to rolling or twisting, the ankle will become sprained. You may experience several symptoms, including tenderness, pain, motion loss, swelling, and ankle weakness.

Other common reasons for foot and ankle pain include:

  • Shin splints

  • Tendonitis

  • Bunions

  • Bursitis

  • Flat feet

These injuries and irregularities will make movement difficult if not impossible, reducing your activity level, and may even require crutches, wraps, or braces if not quickly and adequately treated.

We have the tools to help heal your injury safely. Why not get started now?
